Tatum Ranch is a 1400 acre master-planned community of 3400 homes and five
commercial sites in the northeast corner of Phoenix, where North Tatum Boulevard
and Cave Creek Road meet. The Ranch is within the Upland Sonoran Desert life
zone, with seven washes or arroyos trending northeast to southwest. Because
of the distance from the metropolitan area (35 miles north of Phoenix Sky
Harbor Airport), its elevation (1800 feet) and its proximity to the New
River Mountains to the north, the summer temperatures are usually cooler
than those recorded at the airport, and the night sky is dark. Six miles
to the north is Cave Creek, the charming small town with a cowboy feel.
Homes in 30 neighborhoods were built by a variety of well know builders.
Three of these neighborhoods are gated. Two urban parks, owned by the
City of Phoenix are found on the south and west edges of the Ranch. Centered
in the Ranch is the Tatum Ranch Golf Course, a private 18-hole course. About
100 homes are attached in pairs. All the others are single family, detached.
Tatum Ranch is located 5 miles north of Loop 101, and while physically in
Phoenix, the mailing address is Cave Creek and it utilizes the Cave Creek
Unified School System.
